Dear Families, 9/11/15
During the 2015-2016 school year, the multi 3-4 and grade 4 community will continue with content teaching. Content-area teaching provides the structure for targeted differentiation, exploration, and creativity. After reflecting on the success of the last two years, we are excited to continue to collaborate together as a new team. Annie Brown joins our team this year as the math teacher. Melissa Stapleton will continue to teach reading and Beth Bush will be the writing instructor. In addition, all classroom teachers will continue to provide Daily 5 and math work stations as well as team building experiences for their homeroom communities.
During the first few weeks of school, we focused on team-building and classroom expectations. After building our homeroom communities, we introduced our content-area teaching this week. We feel that this has been a smooth transition, and will continue to build community within both places. This year we will be keeping our homeroom classes each Day 6 for a “Home Day”. This will be a day when we can work within our classrooms in all content areas while keeping our students together.
We are excited and we look forward to continue with this opportunity. It was wonderful to meet so many of you during Open House last evening.
